Waterford Township will discuss expansion of its Riverwalk at the March 23 board meeting.
Clerk Sue Camilleri is currently working on a Department of Natural Resources Passport grant that would fund a portion of the Riverwalk to be constructed on the west side of Crescent Lake Road north and adjacent to the WCA building at 1585 Crescent Lake Road.
Camilleri will lead a discussion on the proposal at the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m.
Artists tired of seeing tagged walls on a Waterford walkway under Highland Road spent much of this past weekend painting over the graffiti.
“It is gorgeous, fantastic,” said Nathan Collard, one of the artists who helped organize the effort. The theme of the paintings is “Dare to Inspire,” and includes panels that say “Teach,” “Grow,” and “Dream.”
Other participating artists included Justin McDougald, Quindell Mitchell, Jessee Stark, Megan Davis and Collard.
Nathan Collard was walking on Waterford’s Riverwalk just west of Buffalo Wild Wings on Highland Road when he noticed the walls of the underpass were covered with tags.
“I saw tasteless graffiti, gang signs — and it just looked dilapidated,” said Collard, 25, an artist himself.
“I wanted to make it something worth looking at. I wanted to tag it and give people that sense of awe when they see something beautiful.”
